Beer Packaging Design
Creating two beer labels, representing Ottawa history.
The goal of this project was to create two new beer can designs for Flora Hall Brewery, with a focus on Ottawa's rich history. Their target audience is locals looking for a welcoming place to gather, who are passionate about Ottawa's culture. Flora Hall is well known for its distinctive atmosphere and strong connection to heritage, which each label design aims to reflect with historic visual elements and details.

Illustrating History
The designs for both labels are inspired by important events and places in Ottawa’s culture and history. Tulip Blond Bloom is inspired by the importance of the annual Tulip Festival and the Dutch Royal Family’s ties to the event, gifting thousands of tulips to Ottawa every year. The design aiming to be elegant, taking inspiration from delftware patterns. Bytown Brew is a reference to the old name of Ottawa during it’s early stages of it's development, with the Rideau Falls' natural beauty as a main focus of the design. In addition to this, they were used to power mills and were apart of the lumber trade. In sketches, both started out as patterns & illustrations until being developed into cohesive designs with matching typography and information hierarchy to pair both together.

A taste of ottawa
The final design of both labels resulted in a cohesive and unique look that aligns with Flora Hall Brewery’s distinctive atmosphere and brand identity. Through careful development of illustrations, patterns, typography, and layout, both designs complement each other, ensuring a unified and engaging presentation that resonates with the brewery’s target audience. Working on this project allowed me to also learn more about Ottawa's history, which was rewarding and assisted a great deal in the creation of these labels.
