Geeked Out
Re-imagining a beloved local Ottawa toy & collectible sale.
The goal of this project was to rebrand an event campaign in dire need of a redesign. Geeked Out is a local small business in Ottawa that hosts events focused on the sale of both vintage and newer toys, comics, trading cards, and games. For this project, I was tasked with reimagining their advertising and branding to enhance their public outreach and visibility. Their previous advertising graphics were not cohesive and extremely difficult to read, which would be my main focus in this redesign.

Reimagining an event identity
I began by sketching new concepts for the logo, aiming for a traditional wordmark design that incorporated stereotypical geek culture and themes with typography. Because the event focused on collectible and vintage toys, I aimed for a retro aesthetic, incorporating elements from classic arcade patterns and pop art. The color palette further pushed the design to be more vibrant, fun, and engaging.

A more lively campaign
For the final design, the changes resulted in a more visually appealing campaign for the company’s event advertising. Illustrations played a crucial role in shaping both web and print materials, while the refined color palette helped each piece stand out. Together, these elements ensured a cohesive, engaging, and easily recognizable brand presence.
